ALUMNI MEMBERS : THE 3RD ALL NEW ZEALAND UNIVERSITIES ALUMNI NETWORKING DINNER
|
Posted by admin on 2011/11/24 21:50:00 (240 reads) |
Dear UC Alumni and Friends,
Quite a number of you will recall that the 1st All New Zealand Universities Alumni Networking Dinner was held in 2005, with a large attendance at the Smokehouse Restaurant (in Ampang at that time) with some Alumni from all 8 universities attending.

The 2nd ANZUAND was held on 2009, at the New Zealand High Commissioner’s Residence, and again, it was great that there were Alumni from all 8 universities.
Subsequently, during discussions with various Alumni from all the universities, we received encouragement to coordinate the event annually, and we are pleased to inform you all that we are holding the 3rd ANZUAND on Saturday 10 December 2011.
The venue will be at The SmokeHouse Restaurant in Bangsar, across the road from Bangsar Village 2, with Pre-Dinner Drinks commencing at 6:30pm, and Dinner commencing at 7:30pm.
We are pleased to attach the Flyer and Reservation Form, and photos of the Smokehouse Restaurant, and as mentioned on the Flyer, the dinner will be RM70.00 for a 3 course meal and as you will all see from the photos, there is a wonderful ambience at the Smokehouse Restaurant (our 1st ANZUAND was held at the Smokehouse Ampang, which has now relocated to the Smokehouse Bangsar).
As UCAM needs to commit to the Smokehouse Restaurant by Thursday 8 December, we would appreciate all payments by Wednesday 7 December 2011, and as the capacity is limited to 80 Alumni, we would really like to encourage Alumni from all 8 Universities to again join us for a warm and friendly evening together!
It is expected that H.E. David Pine, the New Zealand High Commissioner will be attending, but as he is in New Zealand this week, we will contact him soon, and keep you informed.

We look forward to meeting up again with Alumni friends from all of the 8 New Zealand Universities!
Many thanks.
My kind regards, RICHARD TANKERSLEY President Tel: 03 2141 0822 Fax: 03 2141 0843 H/P: 019 221 2222

UNIVERSITY OF CANTERBURY, CHRISTCHURCH, NZ : Invitation to Alumni and Friends from UC Vice-Chancellor, Dr Rod Carr
|
Posted by admin on 2011/6/10 13:10:00 (830 reads) |
I invite you to join me and fellow alumni, friends and parents of current UC students at one of the functions I am hosting in six cities across Malaysia, and in Singapore between 13 and 23 July.
I am delighted to also invite your partner, and children and friends who may be considering study at UC in the future. Please forward my invitation to other UC alumni you are in contact with. I have also written to you and you will receive my invitation letter shortly.
We will visit Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Miri, Sibu and Singapore. This is the most extensive visit we have undertaken anywhere in the world. It reflects how important our Malaysian and Singaporean alumni and current and future generations of students are to our university. Please see the attached pdf for specific dates, locations and RSVP details.
I want to personally share our story and tell you that UC is very much open for business. The tents have been packed away and teaching and research is in full swing. Our 15,500 students know we are back on track and in a recent survey, over 90 percent said they would recommend UC as a place to study.
During my visit I also want to thank and acknowledge the wonderful generosity of many Malaysian and Singaporean alumni and friends in response to my recent earthquake scholarship appeal. I am overwhelmed by the support the university continues to receive.
I hope you can join me and look forward to meeting you in July. Please RSVP as soon as possible.
Kind Regards
Dr Rod Carr
Vice-Chancellor

SPECIAL EVENTS/ANNIVERSARY : Christchurch Earthquake Disaster Fund
|
| Posted by admin on 2011/2/25 17:20:00 (815 reads) |
 Dear Alumni,
I am sure that you have all heard about the tragedy that happened on Tuesday 22nd February 2011, and the devastation brought by the strong 6.3-magnitude earthquake that has struck the city of Christchurch, with death toll increasing to 113 (as of 25 Feb) and probably more, with serious injuries, and significant damage on buildings, infrastructure, throughout the city.
As the New Zealand Prime Minister has mentioned, they are considering the Christchurch earthquake as the most serious disaster in the history of New Zealand.
Subsequently, today, I have received calls from MANZA, New Zealand Alumni, etc.
Following the recent floods in Australia, the MABC and MANZA held a joint event, and raised RM126,000.00
With New Zealand Alumni, MNZCC and MANZA collaborating, we have established a dedicated bank account for the “Christchurch Earthquake Disaster Fund”.
As one Victoria alumni emailed me today, setting out his gratitude for being a Colombo Plan Student many years ago, paid completely by the New Zealand government, and stating that he and some of his friends would like to find a way of “giving back to New Zealand”, and they asked me if the MNZCC/NZ Alumni/MANZA could set up the special fund.
The details for the fund are as follows:
Name of the Account : Christchurch Earthquake Disaster Fund Account Number : 142 5000 5676 050
CIMB Branch : CIMB Bank Berhad 1st Floor, Menara PNB 201-A, Jalan Tun Razak 50400 Kuala Lumpur En. Shaharudin Sukaimi - Manager
My kind regards,
